A Book Update

Good morning! Remember a few months back when I said I was going to write a book about my experiences volunteering the Mike Huckabee Presidential campaign? I made an executive decision a month ago. I am going to wait until the entire cycle is over. Besides Mike's writing a book about the same topic and will be published in November. His book will be about his campaign and where is movement is headed. Mine will be a bit differenct as it will have three goals that Mike's book is not being written to attain. 1. I want to write about my experiences as a volunteer and my thoughts of the campaign and the process 2. Through my participation in the process I have realized that it is a convaluted mess and needs to be reformed to be more effecient 3. I want my readers to understand that even the smallest voice can be heard and can have an impact on the pages of history. It is very important to be involved in the process no matter what your political stripes are. I have never read or heard of a book on politics and/or the political process from an average Joe. They all have been written by professional politicos. My plan is to not start writing until after Christmas. The 2008 cycle will be fully resolved and there will be closure in that matter. My chapter of the story is finished but the final result will be somewhat important to include in the book. I am hoping to have the book done by late spring or early summer of 2009. Another hope of mine is that the book does well enoguh or people are interested enough for me to go on a book tour. I would love to tour this wonderful Nation of ours. Obviously I'd start here in my hometwon of Atlanta but if all goes well and to plan I'd like for the tour to end in Los Angeles. Let's hope all goes to plan.

Start now while your memories are fresh. The cycle will finish while you're writing. And if part need to be rewritten based on the outcome, then you can go back and edit, but at least you'll have your memories written down.

Don't be afraid to work on middle-of-the-book chapters out of sequence either, go with your inspiration. You can knock it back in chronological order later.

Good luck with the book!
